My favorite Christmas food memory is definitely baking ad decorating a variety of cookies in the kitchen with my mom! We still do it every year…so fun!
Nothing gets me in the holiday spirit more than red velvet cake!! Layered high and iced with sweet cream cheese it’s the perfect, festive holiday treat!! I can’t wait to put myself into a food comma Sunday!! Sunday Funday!! Merry Xmas!!
When I was younger, my grandparents, my mother and I would prepare a huge delicious breakfast on Christmas morning after exchanging our gifts. All of the adults had their specialty: Grandma made sausage milk gravy from scratch, Grandpa perfected hash browns, and mom made the eggs just right. We would also have fresh baked biscuits, sausage, bacon, and if we were especially lucky, a home grown pineapple from my Grandfather’s greenhouse. We got to feast while wearing our pajamas.
A family dinner with a honey baked ham as the main course is my favorite Christmas food memory. It was always a great meal and the ham sandwiches made out of leftovers in the new year were delicious.
My favorite Christmas food memory is the process of cooking and baking for Christmas dinner! Family time and the excitement of Christmas fills the house. =) Love it!
My favorite Christmas food memory is watching my sister make a mashed potato sandwich. She takes a dinner roll, splits it in half, and stuffs it with mashed potatoes and a little bit of gravy.
My favorite memory is dehydrating apples and salmon to make salmon jerky and apple chips. We always indulge in some eggnog and bourbon as well.
My favorite Christmas memory is decorating the Christmas tree with my family. We have boxes and boxes of ornaments, some that are more than 25 years old. As we pile them on the tree, we tell stories about them, like, “remember when you nibbled the ear off this gingerbread man as a baby?” or “aw, here’s Koko’s ornament (our old dog), we miss her!”
We also listen to Christmas songs; both the traditional and the wacky. Our favorite one is Ricky Martin’s “Ay, Ay, Ay, It’s Christmas” – with which we sing along, dance, and shake maracas! My family is wacky but it’s a good time.
My favorite Christmas food memory would be when my mom and I spent our first Christmas just the two of us. We decided to go nontraditional and make a pot roast, complete with mashed potatoes, carrots, onions, and homemade gravy. We used a very old cooking dish (inherited from my great grandmother!) that the pot roast simmerred in, surrounded by the veggies. While the roast cooked, we open gifts and the house filled with an amazing warm and familiar smell. By the time the feast was ready, the roast was so tender and nearly melted in my mouth. To this day, pot roast will always be my comfort food!
